Upgrading EBS volume types, how to change it during instance runtime.
It’s always better to take backup of existing volume before making any modifications.
Open AWS console.
Choose Volumes, Select volume to modify goto Actions, and then Modify Volumes.
A Modify volume window will get displayed mentioning the Volume ID, type, size, IOPS etc. Any of this can be changed in a single action.
For type choose “Volume Type”
For size choose “Size”
for IOPS, enter integer for allowed IOPS.
Once you’ve finished with the config. hit “Modify”, choose YES when asked for confirmation.
