A stakeholder is simply someone who is affected by the project, and they can have various degrees of influence. The sponsor is generally the person who signed off on the projects beginning and is the most important stakeholder. They have a vested interest in the project's success. The project sponsor is a person. The project owner is the organization that performs the project and receives its deliverables. Normally the project sponsor is employed by the project owner organization. The Project Sponsor is the individual (often a manager or executive) with overall accountability for the project. The Project Sponsor is primarily concerned with ensuring that the project delivers the agreed business benefits.
