If you want to name branches in Git, then there are several methods, practices, and conventions that can support you in this particular matter. One thing should be remembered your branch name should be descriptive and reflect the relevant process. It is necessary to use lowercase letters, hyphens, and underscores, however, you are not allowed to use special characters. You are not also allowed to use spaces. Try to make your branch name concise but informative.  You can typically write around 2-3 words. For example ‘new-user-auth’ or ‘update-readme’. This example is for a new feature named.

If your branch name is meaningful then it will ensure an understanding of the role of a branch within the repository. Your git branch name should also be unique. There are several methods present for git rename branch. They are- Feature-based, issue-driven, data-based, developer-based, release or version-based.
