History of Linux.
Linux began as a personal project in 1991 by Finnish student Linus Torvalds as creating a free operating system kernel.
The final developed kernel has been in constant growth since then. The initial source code from 1991 has grown from small no. of C files under license prohibiting commercial distribution to 23.3. million lines of code managed under GNU (General Public License). As it's free hence, word open-source came into existence which means the source code is open to all and can be re-developed by any community to enhance it for betterment or for personnel use etc.
