Is using “save image as” on google images harmful? Can any dangerous code be put in the image file? Because then it can be executed on opening, and if any such images can be received from Google images after right clicking and choosing “save image as”?

Viewing an image is not harmful usually. Seeing the Google cached versions of any image are safer and seeing the real image on the actual site is also safe. When you visit the page of any unknown website, then it’s risky but Google is fine at blocking sites that are suspicious. The image can have malware, hence you may receive virus from google images. However it must attack a vulnerability in a certain image viewer. You may read methods that images can be harmful at watch out for photos having malware, but this concerns about the utilization of an image to send a trojan horse executable. You may visit questionable sites from within a virtual machine. If anything is wrong, you may kill the LiveCD and delete the VM> However malware can at times evade VM obstructions. A test deploying Inspect Element in Google Chrome says: The image on the results page is raw base64 encoded data re-rendering of the image. It’s safe. When you stretch the image, the expanded photo comes from the site. “View Image”, brings you to that image on the screen, revealing the site URL in the address bar. Tapping on the image takes you to the page having that image.
