Why my extracts are not getting refreshed

There can be many reasons behind this. If your data is in any database, then please check the kind of permission you have.

But when you have an excel sheet and the refresh is getting failed then there can be many reasons behind this.

One common reason for this can be residing in the file locally. Make sure your excel file is on shared location to get the extract refreshed smoothly. Here are some other points which you use as a checkpoint-

1. Locally connected files: Here the data will be refreshed from Temp location and not the original data source

2. Locally created extract: refresh will be done from the locally saved extract and not the original data source

3. Extract on Tableau server: Here refresh will be done on the server and it will connect the extract saved on server and not original data source

We should use the dashboard focusing on the business requirement. While creating the worksheet many times we create a lot more for testing or small calculations. And only those worksheets should be used in the dashboard which is making relevance and required.
